New Delhi: Akie Abe, wife of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and Tomohiko Taniguchi, chairman of Nippon Kaigi, met Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale at Keshav Kunj, the organisation’s office in New Delhi, on October 8.
The meeting featured an exchange of views on strengthening India-Japan relations, with particular emphasis on shared civilisational ties, cultural cooperation and people-centric initiatives.
Akie Abe, chairperson of the Foundation for Social Contribution, and Taniguchi, who heads Nippon Kaigi, a prominent Japanese non-governmental organisation, interacted with Hosabale for over an hour.

The discussions reflected a shared interest in deepening engagement between the two countries and exploring opportunities for collaboration in cultural and social initiatives.
According to the statement, the RSS leadership, the Foundation for Social Contribution and the Nippon Kaigi delegation agreed to explore ways to strengthen cultural ties between India and Japan.
The meeting comes amid efforts to promote people-to-people engagement and build on the longstanding cultural and civilisational connections between the two countries.
