TMC Alleges Woman Tried to Attack Mamata Banerjee With Knife

Kolkata: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has alleged that a woman attempted to attack West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee with a knife near her residence, raising concerns over the security of the chief minister.

Former TMC MP Saket Gokhale expressed suspicion that there could be a conspiracy behind the alleged incident and called for a thorough investigation. He also questioned how such an incident could occur despite Banerjee being provided Z+ security.

According to the TMC, the woman, identified as Tannishtha Saha, arrived at Banerjee’s residence claiming to be the chief minister’s daughter-in-law. The party alleged that she subsequently verbally abused Banerjee and attempted to attack her with a knife.

The TMC said a complaint had been filed in connection with the incident and demanded a detailed investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack.
