Bengaluru: The Yakshagana performance of ‘Sri Raghavendra Mahime’, composed by Nandrolli Sitaramashetty and presented by Spandana Seva Samiti, drew attention at Ravindra Kalakshetra in Bengaluru.
The programme was inaugurated by Karnataka High Court Justices Sreeshananda and Rajesh Rai, Mantralaya Math representative S.N. Venkatesacharya, MLA Dr C.N. Ashwath Narayan, businessman Rajesh Shetty, Hotel and Bakery Condiments Association president Pratap Shetty, Prabhu, Karunkar Shetty and Spandana Seva Samiti president Venkatesh Pai by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Speaking on the occasion, Justice Sreeshananda highlighted the spiritual and moral values reflected in stories associated with saints and devotees. He said the teachings emphasise the importance of good deeds, devotion and righteousness.
Referring to Sri Guru Raghavendra Swamy, he said people across communities have faith in the saint and recalled historical references to his devotees. He also stressed that people should not lose hope during difficult times and should have faith in God.
The event also featured an award ceremony honouring individuals for their contributions to society and Yakshagana.
Under the Spandana Social Service Award, awards were presented to Govinda Babu Poojary, Managing Director of Chef Talk, and Police Inspector K. Venkatesh.
Govinda Babu Poojary was recognised for his social initiatives, including constructing houses for needy families and creating employment opportunities.
The Yaksha Kala Seva Spandana Award was presented to Yakshagana artiste Vijay Ganiga Jeejamakki and Mrs Arpita Holla for their contribution to Yakshagana.
Talented students were also honoured with Pratibha Puraskar awards for their achievements.
