Karnataka BJP Accuses Judicial Probe in PSI Recruitment Scam as “Politics of Hatred”

Bengaluru: The Karnataka BJP has expressed its opposition to the decision of ordering a judicial probe into the PSI (Police Sub-Inspector) recruitment scam, considering it as “politics of hatred.” Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, while addressing reporters during a BJP protest, stated that the investigation into the scam is already underway, and an officer of the rank of ADGP (Additional Director General of Police) has been sent to jail in connection with the case.

Bommai further highlighted the alleged involvement of Congress leaders in the scandal and emphasized that the case is already being handled by the court. The BJP views the move to initiate a judicial probe at this stage as a reflection of political animosity.

The Chief Minister also criticized former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s comments suggesting that the BJP should protest before the statue of Godse. He accused Congress leaders of misusing the name of Mahatma Gandhi for their political gains and emphasized that Gandhiji had advised dissolving the Congress party after independence, expressing doubts about their ability to govern the country.

In response, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah defended his government’s actions and stated that during his 40-year political career, this is the first time he had to reply to the budget debate without the presence of the opposition party. He criticized the BJP for resorting to protests outside rather than participating in discussions during the legislative session to address people’s issues. Siddaramaiah also held the opposition responsible for wasting time in commotion, which led to the Speaker’s action against them.

Regarding the NICE (Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise) road scam, Siddaramaiah refuted former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy’s claims and stated that the Congress government had the opportunity to take action when the coalition government came to power. He asserted that the Congress was not hindered from conducting investigations and reminded Kumaraswamy that the Congress had supported various programs, including the loan waiver scheme.

The political atmosphere in Karnataka appears tense with both major parties, the BJP and Congress, trading accusations and engaging in protests, impacting the functioning of the legislative session.
