Hyderabad: The ICAR–Indian Institute of Oilseeds Research (ICAR-IIOR) will organise a National Consultation and Industry Interface Meet on September 10 to accelerate the commercialisation and large-scale adoption of emerging technologies in the oilseed sector.
The event, titled “Innovations in Varieties/Hybrids, Biologicals and Biopolymer-Enabled Multilayer Seed Coating Technologies for Sustainable Agriculture”, will be held at the ICAR-IIOR campus in Hyderabad.
India is among the world’s major vegetable oil economies, while rising demand for edible oils has increased the need to strengthen domestic oilseed production and reduce dependence on imports.
Against this backdrop, ICAR-IIOR has developed several technologies, including improved oilseed varieties and hybrids, biopolymer-based seed enhancement technologies and microbial biopesticide formulations.
The consultation will bring together stakeholders from the seed industry, biopesticide and bio-input companies, technology licensing firms, agri-businesses, start-ups and entrepreneurial ventures.
During the meet, ICAR-IIOR will showcase its technology portfolio and explore opportunities for technology transfer, licensing, public-private partnerships and large-scale deployment.
The initiative aims to bridge the gap between research and industry by facilitating validation and commercialisation of promising agricultural technologies.
Officials expect stronger collaboration between researchers, industry players and other stakeholders to help accelerate the adoption of innovative solutions by farmers.
The consultation is also expected to contribute to the sustainable growth of India’s oilseed sector, while supporting efforts to increase productivity and strengthen the country’s self-reliance in edible oil production.
