India Post, IndiGo Take Digital Detox Campaign to the Skies

New Delhi: India Post and IndiGo have joined hands to promote handwritten communication through a unique Digital Detox Campaign, encouraging air travellers to take a break from screens and rediscover the joy of writing letters.

Organised on October 12 to mark Philately Day during National Postal Week (October 9–15), the initiative was launched by the Department of Posts under the Ministry of Communications in collaboration with IndiGo.

As part of the campaign, passengers on selected IndiGo flights received specially designed Digital Detox kits containing postcards. Travellers were encouraged to write personal messages to their loved ones and post them in designated India Post letter boxes at arrival airports for delivery.

The campaign connected passengers travelling across Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai. Specially designed postcards featuring iconic landmarks of the six cities added a local touch to the initiative.

One passenger described the experience as a refreshing break from digital communication, saying, “In a time of blue ticks, I wrote a postcard at 30,000 feet!” The passenger said the quiet moments above the clouds offered an opportunity to put personal thoughts on paper for special people.

The initiative highlighted the importance of reducing screen time, encouraging mindfulness and strengthening meaningful human connections.

Through the campaign, India Post sought to revive interest in handwritten letters and showcase the continuing relevance of traditional postal services in an increasingly digital world.

The collaboration also brought a familiar postal tradition into the air-travel experience, offering passengers an opportunity to exchange personal messages beyond instant digital communication.
