Sanaa: According to reports from residents and media outlets, a joint US-British military coalition conducted two airstrikes targeting Houthi military installations in the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah, Yemen.
Residents in the area confirmed that the strikes were aimed at Houthi mobile missile launchers located in the western part of the city. Social media platform X served as a channel for these reports.
These airstrikes mark the latest in a series of actions directed at Houthi targets, initiated in response to the group’s targeting of international commercial ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden since November.
The Houthis have purportedly justified their actions as expressions of solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
In a televised address aired on al-Masirah TV, Houthi leader Abdulmalik al-Houthi pledged further missile attacks to disrupt shipping in the region. He asserted that these attacks would persist as a means to pressure Israel to halt its conflict with Hamas.
Since the onset of Houthi attacks, numerous vessels, particularly those from the US, Britain, and Europe, have suffered damages.
It’s noteworthy that Washington re-designated the Houthi group as a “global terrorist organization” in January.
