Stampede at temple: over a dozen devotees injured

Rewa: A stampede at a temple in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh has left over a dozen devotees injured. The incident occurred as a large number of devotees were present at the temple when an electric wire fell on some of them, triggering panic and chaos.

As of now, there have been no confirmed casualties reported by officials. However, the injured persons, including women and children, were promptly taken to nearby hospitals for medical attention. Some of the more critical cases were referred to the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Rewa, located about 50 km from the temple.

In response to the incident, Rewa SP Vivek Singh and Collector Pratibha Pal have rushed to the spot to oversee the situation and coordinate rescue efforts.

The temple at the site, dedicated to Lord Shiva, holds immense historical and religious significance, and it attracts a substantial number of devotees daily. Situated in Dev Talab, the centuries-old temple witnesses around 3000-4000 visitors each day.

Authorities are working diligently to manage the situation, provide medical assistance to the injured, and ensure the safety of the devotees. Further updates will be awaited as the investigation into the incident continues.
