Rahul Gandhi Highlights Ideological Battle, Calls for Unity against Centralization

Mumbai: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi underscored the ideological divide between centralization of power and decentralized governance, likening it to the concept of ‘Shiv Ki Baraat,’ during an interactive meeting with NGO representatives and civil society members on Sunday.

Joined by his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Mahatma Gandhi’s great-grandson Tushar Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi discussed the five guarantees (Nyay) announced during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which concluded at Chaityabhoomi.

Reflecting on the yatra’s significance, Rahul Gandhi emphasized that it symbolized the collective strength of millions of Indians, transcending individual leaders or political parties. He framed the current political landscape as a clash of ideologies, one advocating for centralized control and the other advocating for decentralization.

In his address, Rahul Gandhi urged people not to succumb to fear, stressing that the battle extends beyond political personalities to fundamental principles. He dismissed fears of constitutional amendments by asserting the resilience of India’s democratic values.

Highlighting systemic injustices against marginalized communities, Rahul Gandhi criticized the lack of justice for the majority, citing disparities in access to legal recourse. He lambasted the hypocrisy of governmental policies that favor the wealthy while neglecting the plight of farmers and the poor.

Addressing concerns such as the leak of exam papers, inadequate minimum support prices, and challenges faced by small traders under the GST regime, Rahul Gandhi emphasized the importance of solidarity in addressing systemic injustices. He called for a collective effort to protect the interests of all citizens, advocating for a movement grounded in mutual support and empowerment.
