New Delhi: In a monumental stride towards fostering a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (‘Developed India’), Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated an array of development projects totaling at least Rs 8.25 lakh crore within a mere span of 14 days this month, setting a groundbreaking record aimed at constructing world-class infrastructure across various sectors.
“In the first 75 days of 2024, projects exceeding Rs 11 lakh crore have been initiated or laid foundation stones, with projects worth Rs 7 lakh crore unveiled in the last 10-12 days alone,” remarked Prime Minister Modi earlier this week.
On Wednesday, the Prime Minister virtually commenced the groundwork for three semiconductor projects valued at Rs 1.25 lakh crore, a feat achieved within just 15 days post the Union Cabinet’s approval.
This brings the total worth of development projects announced by Prime Minister Modi to approximately Rs 8.25 lakh crore in a span of just 14 days.
Starting on March 1, Prime Minister Modi initiated multiple development projects worth Rs 35,700 crores in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, encompassing sectors such as fertilizer, rail, power, and coal.
On the same day, he laid the foundation stone for projects valued at Rs 7,200 crore in Arambagh, Hooghly, West Bengal, covering areas like rail, ports, oil pipeline, LPG supply, and wastewater treatment.
Continuing his momentum, on March 2, the Prime Minister launched projects worth Rs 15,000 crore in Krishnanagar, West Bengal’s Nadia district, associated with power, rail, and road sectors.
Addressing the audience, Prime Minister Modi emphasized this as another stride towards transforming West Bengal into a “Viksit state.”
Later that day, he commenced projects worth Rs 21,400 crore in Aurangabad, Bihar, which included road, railway, and the ‘Namami Gange’ project among others.
On March 4, the Prime Minister initiated projects worth over Rs 56,000 crores in Adilabad, Telangana, focused on power, rail, and road sectors.
Subsequently, he inaugurated projects exceeding Rs 6,800 crore in Sangareddy, Telangana, spanning sectors such as road, rail, petroleum, aviation, and natural gas.
Further extending his development agenda, Prime Minister Modi announced projects surpassing Rs 19,600 crore in Chandikhole, Odisha, involving oil & gas, railways, road, transport & highways, and atomic energy sectors.
On March 6, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for connectivity projects worth Rs 15,400 crore in Kolkata, emphasizing urban mobility including Metro Rail and Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS).
March 9 saw the initiation of projects valued at over Rs 17,500 crore in Jorhat, Assam, spanning health, oil and gas, rail, and housing sectors.
Continuing his mission, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for initiatives worth more than Rs 34,000 crore in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, on March 10, signaling a new chapter of development for the region.
On March 11, Prime Minister Modi initiated 112 National Highway projects across the country worth about Rs 1 lakh crore at Gurugram, Haryana, marking a significant leap towards modern connectivity.
Highlighting the occasion, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the nation’s substantial progress in less than three months of 2024, with projects exceeding Rs 10 lakh crore either dedicated or with foundation stones laid.
Wrapping up the series of events, on March 12, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for various projects worth over Rs 1,06,000 crore at the Dedicated Freight Corridor’s Operation Control Centre in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
In a boost to India’s semiconductor policy, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated three semiconductor projects valued at about Rs 1.25 lakh crore via video conferencing, establishing Semiconductor fabrication facilities at the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), Gujarat, and Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facilities at Morigaon, Assam, and Sanand, Gujarat.
