Over 1.13 Lakh Kashmiri Migrant Voters Registered for 3 LS Seats in Valley

Srinagar: The Election Commission of India announced on Thursday that more than 1.13 lakh Kashmiri migrant voters are registered to vote for the three Lok Sabha seats in the Valley. Specifically, 52,100 migrant voters are eligible to cast their votes on May 13, when the Srinagar Lok Sabha seat goes to the polls.

Among the registered voters, 56,290 are males, 57,582 are females, and some belong to the third gender category. The ECI has established 26 polling stations for migrant voters, with 21 located in Jammu, four in Delhi, and one in Udhampur. Transportation facilities will be provided in areas with a higher concentration of migrant voters on polling day.

The Election Commission noted a notable increase in the number of registered migrant voters compared to previous elections. Kashmiri migrants have two voting options: they can either fill out an M-form to cast their votes at special polling stations or opt for postal ballots by completing Form-12C.

The polling schedule for the respective Lok Sabha seats is as follows: Srinagar on May 13, Baramulla on May 20, and Anantnag-Rajouri on May 25.
