Mild Earthquakes felt in Karnataka dist

Bengaluru: In the early hours of Monday, mild tremors were reported in various locations across Vijayapura district in Karnataka. The seismic activity, registering at 2.9 on the Richter scale, occurred between 12:22 a.m. and 1:20 a.m., specifically affecting Vijayapura city and Managoli town in Basavanabagewadi taluk.

The epicenter of the tremors was identified as being five kilometers below the Earth’s surface. In response to the seismic event, residents evacuated their homes, opting to spend the night outdoors. Household items were displaced due to the tremors.

This incident follows a trend, with locals expressing concern as they have experienced similar tremors on more than ten occasions in the past year. Authorities from the Karnataka Natural Disaster Management Authority, alongside experts from central agencies, visited the affected areas and assured the public that the tremor’s intensity is low, alleviating the need for immediate concern.
