Bhopal, April 16 (IANS) Stressing the need for holistic youth development, Madhya Pradesh Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Vishvas Kailash Sarang said the government aims to build “strong and well-rounded personalities” through the revamped ‘Aaroh-2026’ summer camp, which will be launched across the state from May 1.
Announcing the initiative during a meeting of state sports officials held at the Tatya Tope Sports Stadium in Bhopal on Thursday, the Minister said the camp will combine sports training with personality development and creative activities, making it more comprehensive than previous editions.
He directed officials to work in coordination with youth coordinators to ensure the camp is organised effectively at the grassroots level, including blocks and rural areas, to maximise participation.
Sarang directed officials present at the meeting that the initiative should not remain limited to sports alone but should also promote values such as discipline, teamwork, and social harmony.
He called for transforming ‘Aaroh-2026’ into a mass movement, similar to national campaigns like the ‘Fit India Movement’ and ‘Swachhata Abhiyan’, so that it reaches every section of society.
Highlighting the broader vision of the department, Sarang said efforts are underway to strengthen sports infrastructure, identify emerging talent, and deploy trained coaches to guide young athletes. He emphasised that coaches play a crucial role in shaping the abilities of youth and helping them achieve excellence in sports.
In addition to physical training, the camp is also expected to include awareness programmes and counselling sessions aimed at supporting the mental and intellectual growth of participants.
He said that registration for the camp will open on April 18 and can be completed through the official website of the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare or via a designated QR code.
Later, taking to X, Sarang wrote: “Today, a meeting was held with senior officials of the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare and sports officers from all districts of the state at Major Dhyan Chand Hall located in TT Nagar Stadium, Bhopal, where detailed discussions were conducted on comprehensive preparations for Summer Camp 2026, and necessary directions were provided.
“This year, the Summer Camp has been given a new format. Special focus will be placed on the physical and mental development of children and youth alongside sports activities, so that their overall personality can be polished. Our objective is not only to nurture talent but also to build strong, disciplined, and confident individuals who become a pride for their families and play an active role in the development of the nation and society.”
