Lalu Yadav’s Associate Subhash Yadav Arrested in Sand Mining Case

Patna: Subhash Yadav, a prominent figure in the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and a close aide of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad, has been apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with an illegal sand mining case. The arrest was made late Saturday night, with authorities recovering Rs 2.15 crore from his possession.

The arrest of the RJD leader follows extensive raids conducted by the ED over a span of 14 hours at six locations associated with him and his associates in Patna. The ED teams meticulously searched Subhash Yadav’s residence in the Danapur locality, as well as his other properties, including the Maa Marachiya Devi Apartment and a biscuit factory in Nasriganj.

During the raids, officials scrutinized documents related to sand mining operations and other financial transactions. This isn’t the first time Yadav has come under scrutiny, as the Income Tax Department had previously conducted raids at his premises in connection with a tax evasion case in 2018. The ED had also raided his properties two years ago.

The investigation into the illegal sand mining case centers on M/s Broadsons Commodities Pvt Ltd (BCPL), of which Subhash Yadav is a director. At least 20 FIRs have been filed by the Bihar Police against BCPL, alleging illegal sand mining and sales without proper documentation, resulting in substantial revenue losses.
