Junior Women’s Hockey World Cup: Netherlands, Australia, Belgium, and Germany Secure Quarterfinal Spots

In a riveting series of matches at the Junior Women’s Hockey World Cup, Netherlands, Australia, Belgium, and Germany have clinched their spots in the quarterfinals. Belgium emerged victorious in a nail-biting clash against India, securing a 3-2 win to top Pool C, while Germany’s commanding 8-0 triumph over Canada secured their second-place finish in the same pool.

Australia and Netherlands, already poised for quarterfinal berths, concluded their pool stage with impressive victories over South Africa and Chile, respectively, in Pool A.

With these results, all four teams – Netherlands, Australia, Belgium, and Germany – have solidified their places in the quarterfinals. Teams finishing third and fourth in their pools will now contend in classification matches for the 9th to 16th positions.

In the intense battle between India and Belgium, Noa Schreurs opened the scoring for Belgium, but India’s Annu responded with a brace. However, Astrid Bonami’s winning goal in the 52nd minute secured Belgium’s triumph.

Germany dominated their match against Canada, with Laura Pluth and Lilly Stoffelsma both scoring hat-tricks in an 8-0 victory. Australia concluded their pool stage with a 4-0 win over South Africa, while Netherlands showcased their dominance with a 7-0 victory against Chile.

The Netherlands claimed the top spot in Pool A, securing their spot in the quarterfinals alongside Australia. South Africa and Chile will now participate in the 9th-16th place qualification matches, having finished at the bottom of their respective pools.
