Israeli Women Rally for Ceasefire, Urge Release of Hostages in Gaza

Jerusalem: Thousands of Israeli women staged demonstrations across the country, advocating for their government to sign a ceasefire agreement aimed at securing the release of hostages held in Gaza. In Tel Aviv, protesters wearing white temporarily blocked the Ayalon Highway, Israel’s main freeway, on Wednesday. Holding red signs with messages such as “Stop the bloodshed!” and “Deal now!”, the demonstrators conveyed a unified plea for peace, as reported bynews agency.

In a statement, the organizers expressed, “We have united to break the silence. We take to the streets to choose life before anything else.” Negotiations, brokered by Qatar, have recently resumed between Israel and Hamas in an effort to reach a ceasefire and end the ongoing conflict that began on October 7, 2023. Despite these efforts, substantial gaps remain in the negotiations. Currently, over 100 hostages are held in Gaza by Hamas and other militant groups.
