Indian Navy Conducts Operation to Thwart Hijacking Attempt by Armed Pirates

New Delhi: In a swift response to thwart an attempted hijacking and rescue a fishing vessel in the Arabian Sea from armed pirates, the Indian Navy has initiated a crucial operation, an official announced on Friday.

Acting on intelligence regarding an incident aboard the Iranian fishing vessel ‘Al Kambar’, two Indian Naval ships deployed in the Arabian Sea for maritime security operations were redirected to intercept the hijacked fishing vessel, the official stated.

The Indian Navy reported that the fishing vessel was approximately 167 kilometers from Socotra (Yemen) when the incident occurred, with nine armed pirates reportedly boarding the vessel.

Efforts by the Indian Navy have successfully intercepted the hijacked fishing vessel, with an ongoing operation aimed at rescuing the vessel and its crew, the official confirmed.
