Dhaka: During the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Kampala, Bangladesh Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud engaged in discussions with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishakar to explore ways of advancing their “excellent bilateral relations.” Both leaders, meeting on the sidelines of the summit, delved into various matters of mutual interest concerning the two neighboring Asian nations.
An official statement on Saturday affirmed that the discussions encompassed a range of issues, emphasizing the commitment to furthering the existing strong bilateral ties.
Additionally, Minister Hasan Mahmud held discussions with his Myanmar counterpart, Than Swe, where Rohingya repatriation matters and other mutual concerns took center stage. Mahmud urged all stakeholders to collaborate towards finding a sustainable solution to the Rohingya crisis.
Further expanding diplomatic engagements, Mahmud met with Riyad al-Maliki, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Palestinian Authority. During this meeting, al-Maliki expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for upholding the legacy of ‘Father of the Nation,’ Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and standing firmly by the Palestinian cause. He urged the international community to support Palestinians and work towards a peaceful resolution of global disputes.
