Farmers Accuse Govt of Ignoring Demands, Vow to Continue Agitation

Chandigarh: Farmer leader Sarwan Pandher reiterated on Friday the unwavering commitment to continue the agitation until the government addresses their demands, alleging that the authorities were neglecting the concerns of farmers.

Speaking to the media, Pandher asserted, “Instead of heeding the demands of farmers, the government seems preoccupied with electoral strategies.”

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) are leading the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march, advocating for the government’s acceptance of their demands, notably the legal guarantee of minimum support prices for their crops.

Despite the ongoing deadlock between farmer unions and the central government, a decision was made on February 23 to suspend the ‘Dilli Chalo’ march until February 29.

Since February 13, protesting farmers from Punjab have been stationed at the Khanauri and Shambhu points along the Punjab-Haryana border, following the halt of their march to the national capital by security forces.
