ED Escalates Action on Recruitment Scams in West Bengal as Year Nears End

Kolkata: In a heightened effort as the year comes to a close, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has intensified its activities in West Bengal, focusing on cases related to school and municipality recruitments. Nine specialized teams, accompanied by heavily armed central police forces, are currently conducting simultaneous raids and searches at different locations across Kolkata since Thursday morning.

Sources familiar with the situation indicate that these operations are targeting individuals with common connections to both school and municipality job irregularities. Among the locations under scrutiny is the office of chartered accountant Rajesh Doshi at Canning Street in central Kolkata. However, investigators have refrained from disclosing specific details about the exact link between Doshi’s office and the recruitment cases.

Simultaneously, another team is engaged in search operations at the residences of two businessmen, Subodh Sachar and Ashok Dhanuka, situated in a posh housing complex at Maniktala in north Kolkata.

As the ED delves into the money trail associated with these recruitment cases, the central agency has identified the involvement of various individuals, including chartered accountants and businessmen. These individuals are suspected of diverting alleged scam proceeds through intricate channels such as shell corporate entities and international hawala links.
