Cold Wave Tightens Grip as Srinagar Drops to Minus 2.1°C

New Delhi: The cold wave persists in Kashmir, with Srinagar city experiencing freezing temperatures at minus 2.1 degrees Celsius on Sunday, according to the Meteorological (MeT) department. The chill extends across the region, with Gulmarg and Pahalgam registering minimum temperatures of minus 3.5 and minus 3.9 degrees Celsius, respectively.

In the Ladakh region, Leh town recorded a bone-chilling minus 10.2, while Kargil marked minus 6.8 as the lowest temperature of the night. Meanwhile, in the plains, Jammu city recorded 9.6 degrees, Katra 8.8, Batote 6.5, Bhaderwah 2.6, and Banihal 7.2 as the minimum temperatures.

This frigid weather marks the ongoing 40-day period of harsh winter cold, commencing on December 21 and concluding on January 30.
