CAPFs Constable Exam to Be Held in 13 Regional Languages, Boosting Accessibility

New Delhi: In a landmark move aimed at enhancing inclusivity, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced that, for the first time, the Constable (General Duty) Examination for Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) recruitment will be conducted in 13 regional languages alongside Hindi and English.

Scheduled to take place from February 20 to March 7 across 128 cities nationwide, the examination will accommodate approximately 48 lakh candidates.

This pioneering decision, spearheaded by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, seeks to foster greater participation of local youth in CAPFs and promote linguistic diversity, stated an MHA official.

Question papers for the exam will now be crafted in Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Odia, Urdu, Punjabi, Manipuri, and Konkani.

Described as one of the flagship exams overseen by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), the Constable (GD) Examination traditionally draws in aspiring candidates from across the nation. Consequently, the MHA and SSC have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate the exam’s administration in the 13 regional languages alongside Hindi and English, the official disclosed.

This groundbreaking decision is anticipated to significantly broaden participation, enabling lakhs of youths to undertake the examination in their mother tongues, thereby enhancing their chances of selection. By extending the exam’s reach across the country, the move ensures equal employment opportunities for all candidates, the official emphasized.
