BJP Unveils First List of Candidates for 2024 LS Polls: 195 Names Announced

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has kickstarted its campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections by unveiling its initial list of candidates. In a media briefing led by BJP leader Vinod Tawde, 195 candidates were officially announced to contest the 2024 Parliamentary elections.

The most prominent name on the list is that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will be seeking re-election from the Varanasi constituency in Uttar Pradesh, a seat he has held since 2014.

Among the 195 nominees, the list includes two former chief ministers and the Lok Sabha Speaker. Additionally, 34 Union Ministers and Ministers of States are set to be fielded once again in the Lok Sabha polls.

The candidates were finalized during a meeting of the BJP’s Central Election Committee (CEC) chaired by PM Modi himself.

One notable development is the selection of candidates for the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi, which surprised many. Manoj Tiwari emerged as the sole BJP MP from Delhi to secure a party ticket for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Notably, existing Parliamentarians like Meenakshi Lekhi, Ramesh Bidhuri, Parvesh Singh Verma, and others did not receive party nominations.

The announcement of these candidates marks the beginning of what promises to be a heated electoral contest, as the BJP aims to secure a strong mandate for its candidates across the country in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
