Bihar: RLJP fields Tanveer Alam for Bankipur by-election

Patna, July 7 (IANS) Political activity surrounding the high-profile Bankipur Assembly by-election has intensified further with the Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) officially announcing Tanveer Alam as its candidate.

The party formally handed over its election symbol to the young leader on Tuesday, clearing the way for him to file his nomination.

At a meeting held at the RLJP’s Patna office, the party’s National Working President and former MP, Prince Paswan, presented the official election symbol to Alam.

On the occasion, Paswan felicitated the candidate with a bouquet and extended his best wishes for success in the upcoming by-election. Senior party leaders and workers were also present during the programme.

After receiving the party symbol, Alam thanked RLJP National President Pashupati Kumar Paras and Working President Prince Paswan for reposing faith in him. He said he would contest the election with a commitment to public service, development, and earning the trust of the people of Bankipur.

According to Alam, he is confident that the voters of Bankipur will support his vision for change and development in the constituency.

Senior RLJP leaders described Alam as an active social worker with a strong connection among local residents. They expressed confidence that his candidature would inject fresh energy into the party’s campaign.

Party workers also resolved to intensify their door-to-door outreach and election campaign immediately after the formal announcement of his candidature.

The Bankipur Assembly seat fell vacant after BJP leader Nitin Nabin was elected to the Rajya Sabha, necessitating the by-election.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Abhishek Kumar Sinha, while Jan Suraaj has nominated its founder, Prashant Kishor. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has also entered the fray with Rekha Gupta as its candidate.

With the RLJP now joining the contest by nominating Alam, the Bankipur by-election is shaping up to be an even more competitive multi-cornered electoral battle, with polling scheduled for July 30.
