Piyush Goyal Ensures Timely Salary Settlement for NTC Employees

New Delhi: Union Minister Piyush Goyal took a significant step on Friday by handing over cheques for 50% of the pending wages to representatives of National Textile Corporation Limited (NTC) workers. The event witnessed the presence of recognized worker unions from the Western and Southern Region, where approximately 7000 NTC employees across 20 mills stand to benefit.

The delay in salary disbursements for NTC employees dates back to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent financial strains faced by the corporation. Addressing the gathering, Goyal expressed regret over the impact of the pandemic on the company, which resulted in cash flow losses and affected employees. However, he highlighted the successful sale of Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) despite challenges, enabling the clearance of pending salary dues.

Goyal assured that pending salary dues up to December 2021 would be settled immediately, with plans to clear dues until August 2022 within the next 30 to 40 days. Emphasizing transparency, Goyal mentioned consultations with various stakeholders, including government bodies at the Central and Maharashtra levels. He commended NTC’s CMD for empathetically assessing the situation and strategizing for optimal outcomes, ensuring online auctions and stakeholder participation for transparency in the process.
