If he could not visit Manipur, PM should have at least called a meeting and reviewed the situation; Gehlot

Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to visit poll-bound states while ignoring the situation in Manipur, which has been grappling with violence. Gehlot expressed disappointment that the Prime Minister neither visited Manipur nor called a meeting to review the situation in the state, which he described as “burning.”

Gehlot criticized PM Modi for not addressing the violence in Manipur, especially the humiliation faced by women during the unrest. He mentioned that the Prime Minister’s silence on the matter persisted for 77 days until the Supreme Court intervened, after which PM Modi finally spoke on the issue.

The Rajasthan Chief Minister also drew comparisons, stating that if the Congress were in power in Manipur instead of the BJP, PM Modi might have reacted differently. He accused PM Modi of neglecting Manipur while actively campaigning in other election-bound states.

Gehlot emphasized that the Prime Minister’s response to the incident was inadequate and only involved formalities, failing to address the gravity of the situation. He criticized PM Modi for touring other states while ignoring the pressing issue in Manipur.

Regarding the theme of social security, Gehlot pledged that if the Congress comes to power, they would work towards implementing the NYAY (Nyuntam Aay Yojana) scheme proposed by Rahul Gandhi. He highlighted that loans taken by the state government are approved by the Centre and the permissions are granted based on the state meeting certain parameters. He defended the state’s loans, stating that every state government carries debt.

Gehlot’s statements reflect his concern for the situation in Manipur and his criticism of the Prime Minister’s response to the violence in the state. He pledged to prioritize social security initiatives if the Congress comes to power.
