Doha: The Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ) hosted a farewell and felicitation programme for Sandeep Kumar, Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) at the Embassy of India in Qatar, acknowledging his support and engagement with the Kannada-speaking community during his tenure.
A delegation led by KSQ president Subramanya Hebbagilu visited the Indian Embassy in Doha and felicitated Kumar. The delegation included vice-president Anil Bhasagi, executive committee members, advisory committee chairman Dr Ravi Shetty, adviser Veeresh Mannangi and Sandeep Reddy, Karnataka representative on the Indian Cultural Centre committee.
Community initiatives get diplomatic support
During the interaction, KSQ office-bearers expressed their appreciation for Kumar’s guidance, encouragement and support for the organisation’s community initiatives and cultural programmes.
They said his participation in various activities helped strengthen community engagement among Kannadigas in Qatar and contributed to closer ties between the Indian Embassy and the Kannada-speaking community.
Kumar praises KSQ’s cultural initiatives
Speaking on the occasion, Kumar appreciated the efforts of Karnataka Sangha Qatar in promoting and preserving Indian art and culture and undertaking social welfare initiatives in Qatar.
He also conveyed his best wishes to the organisation’s leadership and the Kannada community for its upcoming programmes and future initiatives.
As a mark of respect, KSQ members felicitated Kumar by presenting him with a traditional shawl, Mysuru peta and a memento.
The association’s office-bearers wished him success in his next diplomatic assignment and conveyed their wishes for his good health and a bright future.
