Patna, Sep 14 (IANS) Intermittent rainfall is continuing in some parts of Bihar, while residents in several other districts are experiencing hot and humid conditions. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert for 17 districts on Monday, warning of strong winds, lightning and light rain.
Residents have been advised to remain cautious and take necessary precautions during periods of adverse weather.
The districts under the weather warning are East Champaran, West Champaran, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Gopalganj, Saran, Siwan, Buxar, Bhojpur, Arwal, Aurangabad, Rohtas and Kaimur.
According to the Meteorological Department, winds with speeds of 30 to 40 kmph may occur in these districts. Lightning and light rainfall have also been forecast.
The department has issued a weather outlook for the next 72 hours, with conditions expected to vary across the state.
On September 15, a Yellow Alert was issued for around half of Bihar, with rainfall particularly likely in the Seemanchal region.
Light rain may also occur at isolated places in North Bihar and the southeastern parts of the state.
On September 16, a rainfall warning was issued for almost the entire state.
Relatively normal weather is expected only in Buxar, Bhojpur, Arwal, Aurangabad, Rohtas and Kaimur.
Strong winds, lightning and light rain are possible in the remaining districts.
Bihar continues to record below-normal rainfall. Meteorologists have attributed the rainfall deficit to a low-pressure area that developed over Central India.
According to weather experts, rainfall activity has shifted towards Central India, southeastern Rajasthan and North Gujarat, while the monsoon trough is also passing through Central India.
These conditions have contributed to relatively weak monsoon activity over Bihar, resulting in only isolated light showers in several areas.
The Meteorological Department said weather conditions remained generally normal across several districts.
The highest maximum temperature was recorded at 37.9 degree Celsius in Bhabhua, Kaimur, while the lowest minimum temperature was 24.4 degree Celsius in Forbesganj, Araria, on Sunday.
In Patna, residents continued to experience hot and humid conditions.
The weather in the state capital has remained generally normal, with bright sunshine expected on Monday.
No specific rainfall alert has been issued for Patna. However, officials said a sudden change in weather could result in light rain in some areas, accompanied by strong winds.
Residents, particularly those in the districts under alert, have been advised to remain vigilant during thunderstorms and avoid exposed areas when lightning activity occurs.
