Former LS Speaker, ex-Maha CM Manohar Joshi passes away

Mumbai: Former Lok Sabha Speaker and ex-Maharashtra Chief Minister, Manohar G. Joshi, a prominent leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), passed away early Friday morning following a heart attack.

The sad news was confirmed by his family, who issued a brief statement at dawn, expressing deep sorrow over his demise. Joshi, aged 86, had been battling age-related health issues for some time before his passing.

Joshi was admitted to Hinduja Hospital in Mahim after suffering a heart attack late on Thursday. Known fondly as ‘Sir’ in political circles due to his background in education and his authoritative demeanor, Joshi’s demise at 3 a.m. during treatment has cast a pall of gloom over the state’s political landscape.
