Tight Security Measures Implemented in J&K Ahead of Republic Day

Srinagar: As Republic Day approaches, Jammu and Kashmir are under high-security cover, emphasizing the smooth continuation of daily life while safeguarding the celebrations. The focus this year is on encouraging public participation in the Republic Day events and maintaining normalcy across the Union Territory.

Stringent vigilance by the Army and BSF is evident along the Line of Control (LoC) and the international border, especially in border districts like Poonch and Rajouri, known for past terror activities. A hawk-eyed approach is being maintained to enhance security.

The primary Republic Day function will take place at the M.A. Stadium in Jammu, where Lt Governor Manoj Sinha is set to hoist the national flag and take the salute during the march pass.

To ensure public safety, additional checkpoints have been set up in Jammu and Srinagar, where vehicles undergo thorough checks, and occupants are frisked. Entry roads into Jammu and Srinagar are equipped with special checking points to bolster security measures.
