‘Tragic Stampede at Kerala University Event: Four Students Dead, Over 60 Injured’

In a devastating incident at the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in Kerala, four students lost their lives and more than 60 sustained injuries during a stampede at a concert. The event, featuring playback singer Nikhita Gandhi, was part of the university’s annual tech fest and was being held at the open-air auditorium.

The unfortunate situation unfolded when unexpected rains prompted the audience to hurriedly seek shelter, resulting in a stampede. Two boys and two girls were among the casualties, declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. Of the 64 individuals rushed to Kalamassery Medical College Hospital and other medical facilities, four students are reportedly in critical condition.

Expressing concern over the tragic incident, State Health Minister Veena George informed reporters in Kozhikode that Industries Minister and local MLA P Rajeev, along with Higher Education Minister R Bindu, have already headed to the site to assess the situation.

The incident casts a somber shadow over the university community, and authorities are actively engaged in providing medical assistance and support to the affected students and their families.
