Congress High-command To Meet Karnataka Ministers To Strategise On 2024 Polls

Bengaluru: The high command of the Congress party has called for a meeting of Karnataka leaders to strategize and plan for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024. The meeting will be held in Delhi and will address various aspects, including the selection criteria for candidates.

Congress leader Shivakumar informed reporters in Bengaluru about the meeting and expressed his willingness to take responsibility for all leaders. He also clarified that there are no internal differences among party leaders.

The Congress party aims to secure the maximum number of seats from the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka, as it only won one seat in the previous elections. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had previously stated the party’s goal of winning 15 to 20 seats in the state. However, infighting within the party has been causing concerns and may hinder their electoral prospects.

Statements made by Home Minister G. Parameshwara and MLC B.K. Hariprasad questioning Siddaramaiah’s leadership have had a negative impact on the party’s image. Additionally, the emergence of alleged letters from over 12 MLAs expressing dissent has further added to the party’s challenges. MLA B.R. Patil, during a recent legislature party meeting, expressed his concerns and stated that he would not remain silent if his self-respect was compromised, raising several questions.

In response to these developments, the Congress leadership has called for the meeting to address internal dissent and find ways to strengthen the party’s position in the upcoming elections.
