Jet Airways’ air operator certificate renewed by DGCA

New Delhi: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has renewed Jet Airways’ air operator certificate, marking a significant milestone for the grounded passenger carrier’s potential comeback in India.

In a statement released by the Jalan-Kalrock Consortium on Monday, they confirmed that the successful resolution applicant of Jet Airways had obtained the renewal for the airline’s AOC from the DGCA on July 28. This renewal showcases the Indian aviation regulator’s confidence in Jet Airways’ revival and demonstrates the consortium’s unwavering commitment to bringing the airline back to operation.

The Jalan-Kalrock Consortium expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the aviation regulator, the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and all other stakeholders for their unwavering support and trust in the consortium’s efforts to revive Jet Airways.

Remaining dedicated to the airline’s revival, the consortium outlined its comprehensive strategy to ensure Jet Airways’ success. They emphasized their willingness to collaborate closely with relevant authorities, industry partners, and stakeholders in the coming weeks to achieve this goal.

It’s worth noting that since Jet Airways is still undergoing the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) under the jurisdiction of NCLT and NCLAT, the DGCA has granted extensions and exclusions of time for the implementation of the approved Resolution Plan until September 3.

As a result, the DGCA has provided a limited extension of the AOC for Jet Airways to complete the ongoing CIRP, valid until September 3. The aviation watchdog also set certain conditions, stating that the airline must undergo re-certification as per the procedure specified in CAP 3100, applicable for the issuance of AOC. Jet Airways is required to demonstrate compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements before resuming flight operations.

Additionally, Jet Airways will have to pay the necessary fee for the re-certification process and submit a firm action plan for the revival of operations once the company is taken over by the SRA, following the NCLT approved resolution plan, as per the DGCA’s instructions.
