1.76 Lakh Employees Cast Votes in Telangana Lok Sabha Polls

Hyderabad: Telangana witnessed significant participation from employees on poll duty, with nearly 1.76 lakh casting their votes in the Lok Sabha elections at Voter Facilitation Centres (VFCs), according to officials on Thursday.

Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj stated that the voting process via postal ballot is nearing completion for most eligible categories, except for service personnel. A total of 2,64,043 employees on poll duty applied for postal ballot/Election Duty Certificate (EDC), out of which 2,29,072 opted for postal ballots and 34,973 for EDC.

As of May 8, 1,75,994 employees had cast their votes in VFCs, with operations scheduled to continue until May 10. Additionally, 15,970 postal ballots were electronically transmitted to service voters via the Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBMS), with 170 received by Returning Officers by the same date.

In the absentee voters’ category, 23,247 applications were received, out of which 21,651 individuals voted through home voting or at postal voting centers by May 8. The home voting process concluded across all parliamentary constituencies, while voting at Postal Voting Centers (PVCs) concluded on Thursday.
